Service Description

Classroom teaching by retired orthopaedic trauma surgeon includes cognitive learning and skills training in Adult, Child or Infant CPR, Automated Electronic Defibrillator, and First Aid. Video presentations for cognitive learning and skills demonstrations plus Q&A session. Topics include: 1-legal aspects of rendering first aid 2-good samaritan law requirement 3- recognizing life-threatening conditions 4-importance of personal protective equipment use 5-quality CPR technique to include rescue breathing using barrier shields and masks 6-chest compression with feedback manikins and automated defibrillator use Skills teaching is comprised of Video instruction, Skill Sheet booklets, Scenario sheets, instructor demonstration and student performance evaluation. Skill techniques also demonstrated for Epipen auto injector, relieving airway obstruction techniques, Narcan nasal administration, splinting methods for extremity fractures, pressure dressing/packing and tourniquet use for life threatening external bleeding. Video presentation topics for First Aid include: 1-Sudden Cardiac Arrest, 2-Heart Attack, 3-Difficulty Breathing, 4-Allergic Reaction, 5-Opioid Overdose, 6-Airway Obstruction, 7-Stroke, 8-Syncope, 9-Hyperthermia, 10-Hypothermia, 11-Bites and Stings, 12-Musculoskeletal Injuries, 13-Life Threatening Bleeding, 14-Penetrating Chest and Eye Injuries, 15-Spinal Injuries, 16-Concussion, 17-Altered Mental Status, 18-Shock, 19-Poisoning (solid, liquid, gas).
